About $100,000 has been donated by local business to fund a resource consent application for a reef at the beach. That was topped up by a $60,000 grant in the Rodney District Council 2007-2008 annual plan approved last week. After four years of campaigning, the Orewa Beach Reef Trust says it is ready to put an application to the Auckland Regional Council by November and might even seek consent for multiple reefs.
