After several months of inoperation, the valuabel AIMS CoralSearch is back in action with an actual working search function. In addition to all the species pages that we’ve come to know and love, your coral search can now be modified by Ocean, Morphology, Family or genus. Since coral morphology is not second nature to most of us, take a moment to check out this well illustrated coral morphology primer by Dave Krupp of Winward Community College in Hawaii. The AIMS Coral Search is probably one of the best coral identification sites for corals out in nature but if you’re looking for something a little more aquarium related, Coralidea has you covered with a free downloadable Coral ID guide with over 600 nearly all aquarium-produced identification pictures.
