AeroForce from CPR gets outed on video

By on Sep 02, 2009

Last month we showed you the new CPR bak pak type protein skimmer named the AeroForce. It was being displayed at IMAC west in a prototype version. After nearly a decade of minor and incremental upgrades to the workhorse BakPak with small design changes and a myriad of different feed pumps over the years, the Aeroforce is the first true next-generation BakPak featuring a dedicated feed pump and the AeroForce aspirating water pump as an internal water and air mixing pump. We are seen for the first time the skimmer showing itself off on video and the creamy froth of bubbles is a very pleasant sight.  Back then we said that the AeroForce would be released in the next 3 months which would call for a Oct-Nov release. We are already into September and the first major retailer Marine Depot has it listed on their site at a $199 price tag.

  • Easy-to-install, hang-on-the-back set up
  • Recirculation design, with removable, dual body construction

  • Adjustable waste collection cup

Saw this at the CPR booth at IMAC. It really is a great upgrade to a great product! I really like how you could remove the bubble containment area. It slides right out so you can really get in there and clean this bad boy up in a snap!

In the video, I am a little confused as to why the bubbles are denser at the bottom and much less dense just below the collection cup. Aren't the bubbles supposed to condense as they rise? Seems like a lot of roiling turbulence in the body. I suppose if it works well then there is no problem…

I've found the water actually rolls inside the body (up/down) at the GPH I am pushing the feed pump at so so bubbles get pulled back down and go around a second time.

looks nice. keep us updated on how thing's are going with it as time goes by. it was definitely time for a design change, so I'm glad to see that the new layout appears to be working well.
