Aqua Medic USA getting reborn with fresh German blood
2 Comments

Beginning January 1st 2010, AquaMedic USA will begin operating in a new warehouse, under new management and new ownership. After years of steady decline of the once-acclaimed German aquarium product brand in the U.S. aquarium industry, Aqua Medic USA is ready to get back in the saddle and turn things around. The new German-born owner of AM-USA,Thomas Plocher, has strengthened relations with AquaMedic Germany and with his background in managing distribution channels of a much larger company he hopes to turn AM-USA into a well oiled machine; one that can deliver products with stricter quality control, more consistent and faster delivery to resellers and industry leading customer service. We are excited to hear that Mr. Plocher will work closely with AquaMedic Germany to help bring these changes and in addition to the return of the popular AquaMedic UVs, heaters and chillers, it’s likely that one of the first new products we’ll see is the Ocean Prop water pump. AM-USA will have a long uphill battle to restore their brand name recognition in the US aquarium marketplace but we’re confident that if AquaMedic USA plays it’s cards right by taking care of longstanding issues and dropping some new exciting products here and there, the American marine and reefing public will gladly accept the brand that popularized double ended halides in the U.S. back into our wet little aquarium hearts.

As long as they have sorted out the quality issues then I think this is good news
Aqua Medic have a strong foundation in Europe and I for one used a lot of their products, although i did also go through many issues with their chillers, 3 in one week was a low point, the fans used to come loose and go inot self destruct mode inside the casing resulting in well and truly knackered heat exchangers.
Thir skimmer line is affordable and of good quality also.
Next line I would like to see over here is Arcadia lamps, brilliant MH lights with great customer service.

I bought a 2X250 & 1 X150 MH case with internal ballasts. The ballasts were somehow built into case and exploded, but only blew circuit. Support was poor and essentially gutted it to use hollow case. It also weighed like 75 lbs and needed to be bolted to house support frames.
I was basically told by customer support lamp was no longer useful and parts were impossible to get.
