Hanna introduces affordable ultra low range phosphate checker

By on Jun 02, 2010

Hanna Instruments added another great product to its small and simple “Checker” line of products with its Phosphorus Ultra Low Range Checker. The new model, HI 736, is similar to the previously released HI 713 Phoshate Checker except taking the reading down to a one parts-per-billion (PPB) resolution, where the original phosphate colorimeter read down to a part per million (PPM) resolution. The Phosphorus Ultra Low Range Checker features the same shape and size as the other handheld “pocket” colorimeters Hanna produces with accuracy ±5% of reading ±10 PPB (at 1 PPB resolution). The new Phosphorus ULR Checker retails for $49.50 and is currently available on the Hanna website. For just under $100, you can get both test meters to give you quite an accurate range of PO4 measurements well under the total cost of the higher-end PO4 meters on the market. It’s great to see more ingenious and affordable products like this making high quality equipment available to the average reefer.

If Hanna reads this, please consider a LR copper tester appropriate for quarantining ornamental marine fish. That is roughly 0.00 to 0.50 depending on type of copper used.

    Great testers!!

I believe you were using a D-D or Merck test kit before.
Do you find the Hanna is more accurate?

    Thanks

Guys…this is a PHOSPHORUS checker not PHOSPHATE .
After talking to Hanna they told me it can not measure phosphate…for this they have another checker (HI713).
Does anyone know if measuring PHOSPHORUS in our tanks is useful?
I already bought HI736 and I’d like to know if it is usable.
