LeDio Mystery Purple and NanoCustoms PAR 38 LED spotlights tango in these videos of azoox corals

By on Jun 10, 2010

The Ledio Mystery Purple LED spotlight from Volx Japan is one which we compared to many LED spotlights including the PAR 38 lamp from NanoCustoms which will be familiar to new and old Reef Builders readers alike. The Mystery purple lamp we played with was the 7 watt version with 7 individual LED spread out over a bulky heatsink of a lamp but now that Volx Japan has outed the same LeDio Mystery purple lamp in a 9 watt configuration with all the LEDs much more closely spaced, the new 9 watt Mystery Purple has much better blending of the colors from the red and green LEDs. What hate about the Mystery Purple lamp is that is purely meant to spot colors of light into your reef and in no way is it meant to grow corals. But the fact that the LeDio 9 Mystery Purple is meant purely as an aesthetic lamp is also what we love about it; either you like the color that it brings out in your corals or you don’t and you move right along. What you see is what you get with the LeDio mystery purple and we don’t have to have this long drawn out discussion of spectrum or PAR. Anyway, we hope you enjoy these videos of the Ledio Mystery Purple and the NanoCustoms PAR38 LED spotlights taking turns lighting up azooxanthellate corals in this beautiful non photosynthetic tank by aquabacs, second video is after the break.

that mystery purple looks about identical to the KZ Fiji Purple T5s. Really helps bring out some of the pink & red hues. Cool that these deliver it as a point source to get some shimmer. Looks great.

Pretty soon our fishes are going to put on bell bottom pants and start dancing to the Bee Gees.
