AquaBeam 600 Ultra LED freshens up Tropical Marine Centre’s LED striplights
By Jake Adams on Sep 14, 2010

The Aquabeam 600 Ultra LED striplight is Tropical Marine Centre’s refresh of their popular line of LED lights. The Aquabeam 600 Ultra garners it’s new features from the advances of the AquaBeam 1000 LED tile from TMC; it still uses Cree XR-E LEDs with a wide viewing angle of the primary lens but most of the real changes are in the housing of the Aquabeam 600. The Previous Aquabeam 500 strips has a acrylic cover which snaps into place by the built-in tabs, which made servicing and stuffing in some extra lenses very difficult.
The Acrylic cover of the Aquabeam 600 is now held in place by screws which give more even pressure on the silicone gasket and which makes the housing that much more serviceable. Furthermore, the housing of the Aquabeam 600 Ultra will still be compatible with the Aquaray MMS range but it now ships with more secure mounting brackets and there are stainless steel threads ion the back for simple mounting into a hood. This new generation of Aquabeam 600 Ultra LEDs have already shipped to the US distributor Quality Marine so it should be a matter of time before they are distributed to TMC Aquaray dealers such as Dr. Tim’s Aquatics.
