Eductor powered reactor really shears up the biopellets

Reef Systems, a distributor of many fine reef aquarium products in Asia including Ecoxotic has a nifty little biopellet reactor on display featuring an eductor inside. The educotr helps to vigorously stir up the biopellets, probably creating a lot more shear forces and shedding of biofilm from the biopellets than your typical gentle fluidizing of the biodegradable polymer. We’re told that the eductor biopellet reactor is a new OEM product from China which we assume will soon be rebadged by a variety of brands. One more pic of the eductor biopellet reactor after the break.

I think the stagnant lower third is due to the use of the cylindrical shaped NP Biopellets which I’ve grown to dislike precisely because they are less hydrodynamic. Spherical BPs don’t lock up like the cylindrical ones.
