3D BluRay Aquarium video reviewed by Barrier Reef Aquariums, Washington

By on Jun 09, 2011

The following is a guest contribution from Cy Forell of Barrier Reef Aquariums who was closely involved in the production of this new 3D bluray aquarium video.

Recently, the film crew at Lightspeed Design Inc. took over Barrier Reef Aquariums in Renton, Washington in order to create a unique Blu-ray experience for fans of marine life. With input from the director, the staff at Barrier Reef Aquariums created six different fish-only and reef aquariums, which includes over 220 different species of fish, anemones, clams, crabs, shrimp and corals. These video clips were filmed using the DepthQ® Stereoscopic 3D rig, which was outfitted with two RED ONE 4K digital cinema cameras. Footage was captured and mastered at 4096×2304 resolution. Crystal clear, ultra sharp imagery combined with deep, comfortable 3D and three different 5.1 HD Audio soundtracks create an incredibly immersive experience that is beautiful, compelling and fun.

This isn’t just another reef aquarium video. Imagine baby seahorses floating in the middle of your living room. Picture every floating particle swirling around you, while fish dart out of your TV into your lap! Marine life in 3D is like nothing you’ve ever seen before. The 3D Blu-ray, released June 7th by Topics Entertainment, is available at Best Buy, Fry’s, Sony Style, and Amazon.com as well as www.barrierreefaquariums.com. It is 70 minutes long and can be viewed in Hi-Def 2D or Hi-Def 3D using a full 3D TV, compatible 3D glasses and a Blu-ray 3D player.

Barrier Reef is so impressed with the results, that this July, their booth at SEAMAX will feature the Blu-ray playing in 3D for everyone to enjoy. To view behind the scenes footage, click here.
