AquaticLife 8 bulb T5 fixture is built with metal, designed with value in mind

Although AquaticLife has somewhat of a penchant for the modular LED and T5 lights, they have departed from that trend with a new HO T5 fixture which is is all in with an 8 bulb set up. The new 8-bulb, high output T5 light from AquaticLife will only be available in a four foot, 432 watt unit and it has an attractive metal construction with their iconic built-in timer with 2-channel control, individual reflectors and waterproof endcaps.

The passively cooled high output T5 unit has no acrylic splash guard or shield, hence the waterproof endcaps, and it has abundant slots all around the perimeter to allow for airflow to cool the T5 lamps. The unit pictured above is an early production of the 8-bulb T5 fixture which will likely be shown off in finished form at MACNA in Iowa. The 4 foot 8 bulb fixture from AquaticLife will cost $519 loaded with bulbs and it will be available beginning in September. We think the new AquaticLife light actually looks kinda nice even if it is intended more for fish stores, coral farmers and more productive than decorative uses. Thanks to Eek and Valkyrie for the pictures.

Looks decent but I wouldn’t ever give them $520 for it. Not with stock bulbs that will need to be changed out within a couple months.

Once again I am beating a dead horse, but WHERE ARE THE FANS???? Passive cooling will NOT work. For the life of me I can not figure out these companies that don’t listen to facts. With the cooling being sub-par you will need to replace bulbs about every 6-7 months.

Get an ATI Sunpower with good bulbs and the proper cooling. You will save yourself a ton of money in the long run and have a MUCH better light.

Come on AquaticLife! Figure it out.

These lights would look great in a custom built aquarium stand. If you are interested you can build your own with  our aquarium stand plans.
