The Mazarra LED reef light is just starting to arrive at aquarium stores in the US, Japan and Australia and already B-Box Aquarium is first out of the gate to get one up over an SPS reef tank. The pair of Mazarra LEDs featured in this video are of the limited edition initial run of silver colored housings, of the P-Series Mazarra running at 60 watts a piece.

The SPS Aquarium used to display this pair of P-Series Mazarra LEDs appears to be about 60 gallons (225 liters) and about three feet long (90cm). If we go back to the old (practically useless) watts per gallon rule, that means that this SPS aquarium is essentially running somewhere in the neighborhood of two watts per gallon, which back in the day would have been good enough for only mushrooms, zoanthids and maybe some soft corals. My how things change. Of course the proof in the efficacy of the third generation Maxspect light will be in its long term performance, so let’s hope B-Box does some follow videos like we’ve been graced with in the case of Bon’s Lagoon.

I visited the supplier today and was very impressed with the fixture they had running.  Seeing the controller and flexability of the fixture is what sold me!  Being able to change mount, direction, colors, and just about anything on the fixture is just amazing!!

I would say they need to shift the fixture back a little from what I can tell in the video.

Im really glad leds in general are out and getting better every time a new model is launched mainly due to led advancements. Less watts as stated practically no heat something that would have saved my Reef when my chiller broke during a heat wave and crashed my entire tank.
I like the Mazzaras and this is what I am going to be buying there well built, modular and a whole lot of other positive things.
