The Cubic Skimmer 250 is a new German-made internal protein skimmer from Coral Planet that has such a skinny profile that you’ll actually want to hang it inside your tank. At just over 2.5 inches thick (6.5cm), the Cubic Skimmer is designed to be a lightweight protein skimmer that is light on the wallet as well. In Europe the Cubic 250 is retailing for 100 Euros (~$144) where it is being marketed for tanks up to 250 liters (66 gallons).
The Clear acrylic interior is protected from light and algae by the black exterior, something we specifically asked about when we saw the clear acrylic interior design.The Cubic Skimmer 250 is all CNC-machined in Germany and coupled with a 6 watt Atman 303 pump that uses a mesh wheel impeller to chop up to 100 liters of air per hour. Right now a lucky few German have been able to get the affordable Cubic Skimmer 250 for their moderate protein skimmer needs, but hopefully this new device will be able to find a home in the US as well.
