Large male spotted angelfish struts it’s stuff on video
By Jake Adams on Dec 12, 2011
The spotted angelfish, Genicanthus takeuchi, is a species of reef fish so obscure that it doesn’t get hardly any airtime outside of Reef Builders where we specialize in the rare and the unusual. This video taken on a cool deeper reef of Ogasawara Japan may only be ten seconds long but the majority of that time is focused on a providing a beautiful profile view of a large stunning male spotted angelfish in all its glory. Besides the ubiquitous emperor angelfish, the rarely seen spotted angelfish has one of the most unique appearances as a juvenile, as a hybrid and as a fully mature adult male.
