Marineland’s countdown timer hints at new products to be unveiled at Global Pet Expo

By on Feb 17, 2012

Beginning earlier this week, visitors to the Marineland homepage have been greeted by a glaring red countdown timer with two weeks left on the clock. The time remaining on Marineland’s timer corresponds with the beginning of the Global Pet Expo in Orlando, Florida where the aquatics industry giant has historically unveiled major new products. It’s been over a year and half since we saw a new LED light from Marineland, not counting the limited edition Reef Capable LED, and we suspect that the new product(s) Marineland has in store will have something to do with light emitting diodes, and maybe that timer is a hint too.

maybe its a Reef capable led light. :)

Here is a pic of my 45 cube that has been running for almost a year using the Marineland reef capable lights. I know they are not as intense or feature rich as some of the others, but using 2 of the 24″ and one of the 18″ I am growing some thriving SPS and LPS in this tank.. Clearly, there are fancier ones on the market, but as an entry level light, these are more than “capable” of maintaining coral growth and color.

    As I said before…

…maybe it’s just counting down to the next time a Stealth Heater melts in someone’s tank and kills several thousand dollars of coral and fish?

Hopefully they add More Blue lights as the current ones are waaaaaaaaay to White.

    And more Lights themselves.

The new AquaticLife has 33% more Lights (Including Pink Lights).

your tank looks good. i guess if you get enough. but for the price you spent on three of those lights you could have probably made one nice cree setup or a bridgelux fixture. the Marineland leds are not priced fairly for what they output.

Yeaahhh, I wouldnt take pics of your aquarium with the flash on. Sorta washes things out…

True, I’m not much of a DIY’er though, especially when it comes to electricity.

Yep, I was trying to show the light fixtures. Without the flash, you couldn’t see them at all.
