Aquatronica teases new LED fixtures, will include nano reef version

By on Jun 20, 2012

Aquatronica, known for high caliber controller systems was showing off a few new LED lights at Interzoo 2012. These lights are expected to work seamlessly with Aquatronica’s popular line of aquarium controllers. The fixtures are designed out of aluminum and present a “sleek” shape over your aquarium tank while using a wide variety of LEDs.In total there will be three different models, a freshwater fixture, saltwater fixture and a nanoreef fixture with the freshwater and saltwater version coming in three different lengths 54 cm, 104 cm, 154 cm.  The nanoreef version is as you might expect smaller for a nano aquarium. We have additional LED usage below the break. As for specific LED setups the arrangement is as follows for the freshwater version

Cree 3W – Warm White – 139lumen – 4100 °K
Cree 3W – Royal Blue – 450nm
Cree 3W – Red – 620mn
Moon Led – Blue led 0805 SMT.

Meanwhile, the saltwater version will use this setup

Cree 3W – Cool White – 139lumen – 8300 °K
Cree 3W – Blue – 470nm
Cree 3W – Royal Blue – 450nm
Cree 3W – Green – 530mn, Cree 3W – Red – 620mn
Moon Led – Blue led 0805 SMT.

And finally, the Nano Reef will use two different types depending on the model

ACQ520-25-40F
Cree 3W – Warm White – 139lumen – 4100 °K
Cree 3W – Royal Blue – 450nm
Moon Led – Blue led 0805 SMT

ACQ520-25-40M
Cree 3W – Cool White – 139lumen – 8300 °K
Cree 3W – Royal Blue – 450nm
Moon Led – Blue led 0805 SMT

We have been hassling Aquatronica to provide pricing, but they will not have anything ready until late September of 2012.

    1000000000% what I am thinking!

Oh what a sweet tank! If that came in a 65g (not too big) with a nice modern looking stand I would be all over it.

Just this one time i wish this post was followed by a post by Aquarium Specialty saying “We have this dropoff tank in stock and shipping… Check out this link.”.

Not a knock on Aquarium Specialty, just an observant wish.

I agree. I saw someone on RC that had one and I’ve been wanting one ever since.

Just an observation but you could make your own “drop off” tank by putting a box inside of it and sacrificing the space to have the drop off point ;)

Haha, I hear you on that. So how about it, Aquarium Specialty??

Ryan, can you let us know where we can get this tank?

Yeah I guess you can do that, but then it will look pretty ghetto and not too aesthetically pleasing. That’s like saying that you can make a round/cylinder shaped tank by simply putting putting a cylinder in a regular tank. The reason I (and I imagine everyone else) like this tank so much is due to aesthetics. If you just put a box in a tank, you’ll have to be sure that it is completely sealed so that water doesn’t get in there. If it does, it will collect a ton of detritus and other problems due to stagnant water, not too mention it will probably look pretty ugly. Then again, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I would be lying if I said that everything that I think will look ugly will in fact be ugly.
