Aquarium Fish International subscribers, hope you like Dog Fancy

By on Jul 31, 2012

Subscribers to the soon-to-be-cancelled Aquarium Fish International (AFI) will be seeing the balances of their subscriptions automatically transferred to Dog Fancy. At least that’s what the card you’ll get in the mail says. Thankfully, some quick investigation revealed that there is a phone number on the postcard you received (800-833-7000).  If you call that number you’ll be greeted by an automated system.

Input your account number as found on the front of your postcard, and you are given the option to receive a refund instead.  The automated system will inform you that if fail to receive a refund within the next four weeks, to call back.  Frankly, they could’ve maybe persuaded customers to try a Reptile publication, or heck, even Bird Fancy, but their first offer was the refund.

If you’re an AFI Subscriber, and really don’t want Dog Fancy, keep an eye out for your notification the mailbox.  Here’s roughly what it will look like:

I think ‘The Danger Of Hidden Parasites’ will be right up most reefers alley.

Hey, you might find an ad to purchase Interceptor in that publication.

    Winning.

That cover makes me sad. My beauceron, The Dude, died about 2 weeks ago. He was such a great dog.

Hahaha. You’re right, it’s good to see that they’re still thinking about usfish & coral nerds, lol.

    Jake,

Thank you for the post. It is a question we have been getting from subscribers.

When selecting a magazine to transition Aquarium Fish International readers to, we didn’t make the decision randomly – we looked at past surveys and polls that had asked what other pets were in the readers’ homes. Consistently, dogs were the most common “other” pet. So – of all of our magazines – Dog Fancy was most likely to be a fit for the largest percentage of subscribers.

We realize it may not be a fit for every subscriber, and AFI subscribers absolutely DO have the option of selecting any of our other monthly publications to complete their subscription – when they call the 800 number on the notification they receive, a customer service representative will be able to make the change for them.

We would like to ask you to make one correction to your post – the 800 number subscribers are directed to in their notice is specific to how they originally subscribed to the magazine, so we’d like it if you could remove the number and direct them to where you have noted on the image they can find the number they should call.

    Sincerely,
    Lisa MacDonald
