Deltec announces self-cleaning head unit for SC and TC skimmers

Deltec has just announced new cleaning heads for the company’s new line of SC and TC protein skimmers we recently wrote about, keeping your skimmer clean and operating as efficiently as possible. The new cleaning heads are low profile to help fit the unit under shorter aquarium stands and comes in the cool “iPod” white to match that beautiful new skimmer design. The cleaning heads feature on-board circuitry with a built-in timer running a minute cleansing every eight minutes. The cleaning head can also be run on an external timer to allow you to tweak the cleaning cycle to fit your own needs, triggering a one-minute wash down at whatever interval you see fit. No word on prices yet but should be available shortly from stores and vendors carrying the D-D brand.

Deltec sent us over these shots of their new wonder pump. If you haven’t had a chance to see this new pump in action, then you are really missing out. Deltec has also solved the problem wherein sometimes pumps start in the wrong direction. Displayed too is the tool that can remove the pump shaft, a very useful tool.Â We hear that normal flow pumps are in the works as well, but we have no ETA on that.

Deltec TC & SC skimmer lines get priced for North American market

We have finally received pricing for the TC & SC skimmer lines that have been teasing us with their hot iPod whiteness for some time now. In case you’ve forgotten these new skimmers feature some of the hottest pumps around, so hot in fact that their air draw is ridiculous. Wait. You don’t want to hear about air draw? You want to hear pricing? Oh well fine then.Â I would also like to mention that the pricing is the same for both the TC and SC models respectively. First up is the TC 2060 (that’s the new model we showed you yesterday at MACNA) which will retail for $1349. The TC (SC) 2560 is going to go for $1979, the TC (SC) 3070 is being pushed at $2869 and finally the uber-new-super-high end TC 3070s model is being offered for $3399 (which sucks a total of 4400 lph!!).

Deltec surprised us by releasing a few new models here at MACNA. First up is the TC 2060 skimmer, this is the smallest skimmer rumored to push out 1,000 lph along with its brother the SC 2060 skimmer also producing 1,000 lph. Price is unknown at the moment but we should know more by later today.

Deltec’s new TC 3070S protein skimmer sucks a ton of air

You thought that Deltec was set with their new line of SC and TC skimmer lines. So did we. But they aren’t. A new TC3070S model has popped up. Our first question, what does the “S” stand for in TC3070S? More air intake. While the original TC3070 sucked up to 1500 lph per pump (2x=1500lph) the “S” model will produce 2200lph per pump (2×2200 lph) for a total of 4400 lph. Yowzers! If that isn’t enough for you, the TC 3070s will use the same neck and cup size as the Deltec AP1006. (Did you notice the cleaning head in the above photo?) This isn’t available yet naturally, but it is a future model that is in the works. We should know more around MACNA time.

When we first broke the news about Deltec’s new hot iPod white skimmers we loved them the moment we saw them.Â This video that has surfaced shows us a couple unique things. First, the TC 3070 Deltec skimmer that is exposed to the camera is quiet. Like really, really quiet. Like your-wife-would-let-you-get-it-because-it’s-so-quiet.Â The double bubble plate is quite interesting and the nice creamed froth of bubbles those “Aquabee like” pumps produce really have us wanting to release it on a nice batch of uncured rock. Our guess is that Aquabee has an agreement with Deltec for those specially made pumps and isn’t letting another protein skimmer manufacturer have at them. If you are a skimmer nut you’ll want to watch the video and listen to the funny commentary from the skimmers owner, Glen. We are jealous of you Glen, very jealous.

These are some of the best shots we’ve come across with Deltec’s new TC (external) skimmer lines. While we wait patiently for final pricing and availability-dates for the United States we will have to look at these photos in awe and wonder. These skimmers were supposed to hit sometime in June in Europe, and June has come and passed and the expected release date for the US/Uk would be in December of this year. There are more shots of these babies after the jump.

While the world has been patiently awaiting (Europe should have their units already) the new TC/SC skimmer lines from Deltec to be released for public consumption, we are left with a teaser video that shows the unit up and working. Did you notice the creamy froth of bubbles in the reaction chamber? It looks very similar to Bubble King’s quality of bubble production. Time will tell if this new line from Deltec has what it takes to take the top spot in protein skimmers for reef tanks. The skimmer doesn’t use a Aquabee that has been reported elsewhere, however Deltec says they do take advantage of the tooling systems of Aquabee, which leads us to believe that Aquabee might be producing, along with Deltec’s engineers a custom pump setup that is exclusive to Deltec. While you wipe the drool away from your mouth just remember we still won’t see these here in the States for at least another 5 months. Oh well, it gives us more time for our coral colonies to grow right? Or you might take the time to prep your significant other why you need this hot white bubble producing machine. With a retail of around $1500+ you might want to start on it, tonight.

While Deltec has just released information regarding their TC & SC skimmers, an in the wild photo shot has appeared from Aquarama that shows the models TC3070 and SC2560 in action. Also, the skimmers were already up for sale with a special show price. The TC3070Â is the largest of the new model lines. It produces an astounding 3000 lph of air replacing the AP1004 series which produced 2400 lph of air. Retail for the UK is coming right in at Â£1439.00 ($2180). Again American’s won’t be seeing these skimmers for another 5-6 months, which is just dreadful. However, the rest of the world gets to enjoy the new skimming wonders from Deltec with a worldwide release expected sometime in June as boxes of the new skimmers begin arriving to dealers.

H&S protein skimmer upgrade increases air intake by up to 50%

When design updates come along for a given piece of equipment, reefers are ecstatic when the performance increases by 10-20%. In the case of the H&S 90 internal protein skimmer (90-F1000), lucky owners of this fine german fractionator can expect a 50% increase in air intake while still pulling the same amount of power. The performance bump of the 90-F1000 comes from an improved aspirator valve and a new impeller design which replaces the traditional internal shaft bearing with a fixed shaft impeller and external bearings. In addition to the new magnetic assembly, the needle wheel also gains a greater diameter with more spacing between the pins and a series of holes in the needle wheel plate. A couple quick measurements at H&S USA HQ showed that the old design pulled roughly the claimed 120 lph of air at 4 watt power draw but the new needle wheel and aspirator valve pulled nearly 200lph with the same power draw. The new performance level makes it almost in line with the larger and more expensive H&S 110 internal skimmer which pulls 250 lph while drawing only 5 watts. All new H&S 90s already come standard with the new impeller and aspirator valveÂ and the upgrade kit should be hitting Finsreef in the next few days with a pricepoint in the $50 neighborhood.
