Vertex Lumina SR LED light fixture spotted on Video

The new Vertex Lumina LED that we showed you earlier has graduated to a low quality demo video. From the video we’ve learned that the new model called the Lumina SR has a “lightstudio” allowing you to control different aspects of the light to adjust it to your particular needs/wants. The Vertex branded Lumina includes 16 LEDs in 8 white, 4 blue along with 4 royal blue flavors at least to start. Models should be available from 12″ to 72″. We still have no ETA as of yet, but we are guessing that it shouldn’t be to far away at the rate information keeps getting leaked out to the media.

Vertex is getting into the LED lighting game with their new Lumina LED lighting fixture. At first glance the Lumina is a very flat looking LED light with a nice black coating and red LCD screen of sorts. However with this gives you options you would expect such as wireless control and possibly dimming in the future. The Vertex branded Lumina includes 16 LEDs in 8 white, 4 blue along with 4 royal blue flavors at least to start. This fixture is so new that Vertex isn’t sure what sizes the final product will be available in. We aren’t going to guess what other features this fixture will have in it, but we will keep you updated as this new LED product goes through final development. Programming

By programming each color channel can be set at the desired time. Among other things, the order can be determined, in the LEDs are dimmed.

- Lightstudio: - Light Studio:

The Light Studio allows the free mixing of all color channels to obtain the desired light color.

- Nachtlicht: - Night Light:

Thus, the aquarium can be lit up at night is a nice night light also programmable. The intensity is arbitrary.

- Mondlicht: - Moon Light:

If that seems too unnatural night light, which is the possibility of a lunar light available. In addition to a simulation of the moon phase and moon more programs to choose from.

- Natursimulation (*): - Nature simulation (*):

This not only looks spectacular, the aquarium, but also the lighting, attention was paid to an appropriate simulation of nature. This term refers to a corresponding clouds, storms and lightning simulation, which is freely programmable.

220v Vertex Alpha skimmers coming, rest of world now happy

Those OEM Royal Exclusiv cone skimmers, named Alpha with the Vertex brand name on them are said to be pretty popular. So popular in fact that a few of our reef cousins have wanted to get on in the action. Up to this point they couldn’t as the skimmers would only sport a 120v connection. Not any longer. The Vertex Alpha cone skimmers are now being offered with a 220v connection so it will work in the rest of the world. We just wish that European companies would get with the boat faster in exporting/readying their products for the US market.Â We like having options. The new 220v skimmers can be purchased through Premium Aquatics.

Vertex Aquaristik RX-6 Calcium Reactor

Vertex releases their new RX 6 calcium reactor which is designed for aquariums up to 280 gallons. Vertex Aquaristik UF 15 Universal Media Reactors

Vertex has released their UF 15 media reactor which is great for a small amount of media. You’ll need to include a pump like other Media Reactors, but you can get by with just tubing, no need for messy PVC. This UF 15 media reactor takes up a 5″ x 5″ in spot in your sump, or stand and you can fill the 4″ wide chamber with media up to 15″ high. Look for these at your favorite Vertex Aquaristik dealer. Crystal clear displays are always the goal of any aspiring Reef Hobbyist. As mainstays of the hobby, Activated Carbons and Phosphate Absorbing Medias go a long way towards the fulfillment of this goal by absorbing many of the impurities that accumulate in the water column. Incorporating these medias into the systems has traditionally been accomplished with the aid of filter bags and/or cartridges. Alpha 300 cone skimmer by Vertex Aquaristik

The first shots of the Vertex branded Royal Exclusiv Alpha 300 Kone pop out on the internets.Â This Alpha 300 protein skimmer is powered by twoÂ Red Dragon 1500 skimmer pumps that will do between 3,000 to 4,600 lph of air and will come with two aspirator valves like other models in the series. This skimmer will take up a space in your sump of 19â€³ x 17â€³ with a height of 27.25â€³ and retail is expected to hit below $1500, look for it at specialty retailers that carry Vertex products.

Vertex rebadges WavySea as Mocean 3500 and 2000

If you’ve already seen the WavySeas “wavemakers” then you there is much else to know about the Mocean 2000 and 3500 from Vertex Aquaristik. Apart from the fact that Wavyseas is basically AWOL and their popular oscillating water outlet is no longer widely available, the Mocean still retains even the same branding as it’s predecessor.Â The Mocean 2000 can handle 2K gph and the Mocean 3500? You guessed it, 3500 gph. The units sell for a cent under $270 and $320 respectively and they are now in stock at Premium Aquatics.

Alpha 170 Cone skimmers have arrived at retailers

We received word that the Alpha 170 cone skimmers known as Kone have begun arriving to retailers and have begun shipping. Vertex Alpha Kone 200 skimmers now shipping

It wasn’t too long ago we brought you the first pictures of the Alpha Cone series including hands on shots and video, but the Alpha 250 ’s smaller sibling the Alpha 200 has begun to ship. The photo above gives a great comparison shot of the Alpha 250 and Alpha 200 in size.Â One trick that is definitely in the “cool” category is the extra feed port that is on the Alpha 200 skimmer, which allows you to move input pump around in your sump if you have any space constraints. That is something that we would love to see on other skimmers. Meanwhile the smallest skimmer in the Alpha cone series, the Alpha 170’s should be hitting the shores of the United States in two weeks.

While we knew about the Alpha 200 and Alpha 170 cone skimmers we didn’t have anything in the specifications department. Thankfully, information about these skimmers has surfaced. We had thought that the Alpha 170 would be much smaller than quoted with a footprint of 9″ x 13.75″ it takes a bit of space, but most of that will probably go to the mini red dragon which you will never hear us complain about. Like we said earlier, the actual cone design is made out of PETG Ozone-safe plastic which allows these cone protein skimmers to be sold at a lower cost if the skimmers were made out of acrylic, possibly bumping up the cost by at least $200 or more.
