Reef Roids – the popular coral food we’ve used to feed wild corals and our in-house studio corals has announced new packaging that will use less plastic than the prior version says Polyp Lab. For years Reef Roids were sold in nice plastic Jars – those now will be collector items as hobbyists liked to reuse them for different purposes.
Polyp Lab has greater plans than just reducing plastic by 87% on new packaging for Reef Roids sources close to the matter state. This apparently is just the first phase of the project as Polyp Lab wants to reduce total plastic consumption by 95% product wide by the end of 2021.
“We know people love our Reef-Roid jars in particular, but we felt the community would support us in switching to our new bags and reducing this plastic use. Also with our first phase packaging switch and automation machines, we have also lowered carbon emissions. Transportation weight on these products has dropped dramatically, which are moved via Truck, Plane, and sailing across the ocean we love, all over the world. Even though Polyplab may be small in the scheme of things worldwide with the oceans, we hope we can help at least move this industry to change also and embrace the amazing ocean we adore.” said an executive close to the brand who is not authorized to speak publically with the media.
In addition, the amount of product you receive with Reef Roids will increase by 25% and the price will not increase a huge win for hobbyists across the globe. However, the current Jar format will be a popular item this holiday as hobbyists rush to stock up on the now collectible jars. Expect the new packaging to start arriving globally in early 2021.
