Aqua Medic pushed out their new Aquasunlight NG aquarium lighting unit out in the United Kingdom. The unit can be supplied with between 1 and 4 metal halide lamps (aqualine 10000, 13000ºK, 70 – 250 watt, aqualine 20000, blue, 70 – 250 watt) and 2 or 4 T5 fluorescent tubes ( aqualine T5 Reef blue and aqualine T5 Reef white ) of 24 – 80 watts. A LED option is available for moonlights as well as light deflectors which will help save your eyes when your examining your tank. Another option is a high frequency electronic ballasts which can be supplied for the metal halide circuits. These ballasts “reduce noise, increases the life span of the bulbs by approx 20% and reduces power uptake,” or so says Aqua medic. These start at £439.99 ($744), and should be much cheaper if they ever make it over the pond.
