For European protein skimmers the holy grail of skimming is a self-cleaning-head or SCH as it is mentioned among users. The self cleaning head promises to deliver better efficiency as it no doubt cleans the head of the skimmer allowing fresh bubbles to do its thing. The Aquadriver is perhaps the only self cleaning head system that is a true SCH, granted Red Sea’s C skim protein skimmer uses water jets to clean, the AquaDriver is on a whole other playing field. Machined in Germany, Aquadriver has 6 different models in which to choose from each included their own DC pump, and instructions. You’ll still need to size these correctly for your protein skimmer too. The AquaDriver skim clean 160 starts the line off and carries a price of 539 EUR ($746) while the AquaDriver skim clean 400 is the higher end model coming in at 612 EUR ($847.25). The AquaDriver SCH have begun arriving here in the US in late November of 2008 and we should start to see these spring up at specialty stores across the United States and UK.
