The Newquay Blue Reef Aquarium has been getting attacked for several months and up until now aquarium staff couldn’t figure it out. Corals were getting shoved around, cut in half and generally devastated. As most of us know, the only way to truly find out what the root problem is to dismantle the entire tank, rock by rock. This is exactly what the staff did and low and behold guess what they found? A 4 foot polychaete worm that “is capable of inflicting permanent numbness on humans with its sting. Matt Slater, the aquarium’s curator, said: ‘Something was guzzling our reef but we had no idea what, we also found an injured Tang Fish so we laid traps but they got ripped apart in the night.” Interestingly the sea worm has been given a new home, all alone by himself. For the record we might have otherĂ‚Â “ideas” if Mr. Barry decided to injure one of our beloved tangs. This gives new meaning to the word “hitchhiker”, doesn’t it?
