While Eric Borneman’s tenure with holding the position of President of MASNA was short lived, MASNA appointed a new president to the board. Steve Allen is the new president of MASNA which was effective in early April and has big plans for MASNA. He introduces himself below:
I am a hobbyist located in Flower Mound, Texas (Yes there is a mound). Like most folks that are into this hobby, I also had serveral small freshwater tanks over the course of my life. My wife and I really preferred the look of marine animals over freshwater and made the switch 1991. We started with a 30 gallon tank, complete with HOT skimmer and filters. Over the years our travels to ocean destinations, just reenforced our love of all things saltwater.
We now have a 150 gallon mixed reef tank that was predominantly SPS. Recently we started the move back to LPS and Soft corals, with a few SPS mixed in. Our dream is to get a larger tank or at least a second large system. We also have a 24 Gallon nano tank that is soft corals (Ricordia, Zoanthids, Mushrooms and a small Clam) This is really my wife’s tank in addition to a 3 gallon pico. I have really grown to like the smaller tanks due to the more personal nature of them.
I was a lurker on the DFWMAS forums for several years prior to actually joining in 2005. My wife and I attendend our first MACNA event in Houston. We were hooked and are looking forward to MACNA XXI in Atlantic City. We try to attend all the DFWMAS functions, when possible and have been to 4 Next Wave events. I currently hold the Media Chair postion with DFWMAS and run the ReefChat site.
I have two grown children and two grand-daughters (4 and 6 months). I am a Senior Systems Analyst and have worked in IT for over 25 years. In fact I grew up in the industry. If you asked my father he would probably tell you my fist word was computer. Besides technology, other hobbies include photography, snorkeling, and most outdoor activities.
I am really excited about being elected to the Board of Directors of MASNA and will work to fulfill my position to the best of my abilities.
We wish success to the new President of MASNA.
