Hot off the heels of the Vertex Alpha 250 cone skimmer announcement we receive word that the Alpha 250 is just one of many Vertex cone skimmers produced by Royal Exclusiv. There are 3 new models, 170, 200 and 300. The Alpha 250 sits in between the 200 and 300 while the Alpha 170 is the smallest of the 4 total cone skimmer models. The Alpha 170 is rated for tanks between 40-200 gallons with a max base plate size of 6.75″ coming in with a retail of $779, the main master pump has yet to be determined. These skimmers will hit US shores within the next 2-3 weeks and click the read link for information about the other Alpha cone skimmers.

Next up is the Alpha 200 from Vertex, this skimmer is recommended for tanks between 75-300 gallons coming in with a base plate size of 7.9″. As with the Alpha 170, the pump configuration for the Alpha 200 has yet to be finalized but we imagine it to be following suit with other models and including a Red Dragon pump. You can pick one of these cones up for $899.
The Alpha 300 is the largest of the Vertex cone skimmers and is rated for a hefty 225 gallons to a massive 600 gallons which those of you who have frag tanks attached to your plumbing lines might want to take interest in. Being a larger skimmer requires a larger baseplate size of 11.8″ being utilized by two massive Mini Red Dragon 1500boasting up to 3600 lph of total air intake. Retail for the Alpha 300 comes in at $1399.
