What do you do when another aquarium is threatening your “world’s largest” aquarium tag? You expand of course. The Georgia aquarium is expected to expand by over 1.3 million gallons when a new project gets started later this summer. The new expansion wing isn’t for reef aquariums, but will be devoted entirely to Dolphins which makes sense, they are a crowd pleaser and who doesn’t like dolphins? The wing will be built on 1.5 acres among a total of 9.3 acres that was denoted to the aquarium by the Coca-Cola company. The wing hasn’t been named yet but a corporate sponsor is very likely. The total bill for this new wing is “$131 per foot” or roughly $131 million. And here you thought you were spending a lot of money on your aquarium.
