Another day, another new cone skimmer enters the market. Meerwasser Technik a German company has been making a variety of reef keeping equipment for some time now including Protein skimmers, zeolite and media reactors. They have recently released their new Typhoon 2 skimmer which uses a cone design and needlewheel to produce a tasty batch of fresh bubbles regularly. Bubbles are produced with 500 lph of air intake that is pushed into a pump (Aquabee 2000) that moves water at 900 lph using up a low 33 watts. Meerwasser Technik states the footprint of the skimmer is 340 x 225mm (13.38″ x 8.8″) with a total height of 510mm (20″). The skimmer is designed for aquariums from 200 liters (52 gallons) to 1000 liters (264 gallons) depending on your stocking level in your tank. We hope you have German friends, or willing to pay export costs as this is about the only way you’ll get your hands on this new skimmer.
