A company out of the United Kingdom, called iQuatics is selling metal halide bulbs for cheap. They offer 70 watt versions in either 10, 14, 20, or 30k for only £9.99. 70 Watt not your thing? Don’t worry. They have 150 watt and 250 watt in the same color ranges for £12.99 £18.99 respectively. Whether or not these bulbs are any good remains to be seen but we sure are interested. Did we mention that you get free shipping in the UK too? Who is going to be the guinea pig and try these guys out?

Halides are a compact source of light which emit the high output light from a single focus point just like the natural sun itself, thus successfully reproduces the natural ripple effect of sunlight.
This rippling effect isn’t possible with t5 lighting as the light is coming from a more spread source.
Corals will appear more vibrant than the lower Kelvin bulbs due to the limited red in the spectrum
Not only is it necessary for growth, also make a more enjoyable viewing pleasure.
The ideal depth of tank that you should use 70w halides with is a maximum of 18inches. If your tank is any deeper than this you should consider increasing to 150w for deeper penetration. 70w Halides are ideal for use on a nano reef aquarium.
