On Saturday February 27th a 8.8 magnitude earthquake hit offshore Maule, Chile, located in south America. Immediately following the quake several Tsunami warnings where issued over a wide swath of land extending as far away as Hawaii and Asia. This was done with the new Tsunami pre-warning system which was installed after the devastating Tsunami that hit the Indian Ocean in 2004. After watching the video you can understand why seismic sea waves are taken so seriously. If this is what this Tsunami did to land, what has it done to Ocean life? We can expect several reports to be generated with scientists studying the effects of the Tsunami. Watch the video and you’ll have a new respect for these waves if you don’t already.
Update: Turns out whoever uploaded that video to Youtube ripped it off of the 2004 Tsunami video footage that hit the Indian Ocean. Thanks for the investigative work Matt.
