Months ago we introduced you to a new company specializing in captive grown and reared fishes. Unfortunately, as of this month Blue Planet Reef Farms is closing down. An email sent to their customers cited a major disaster to a facility in Indonesia as major contributor to their closure. Several thousand fish that were expected ready-for-market were no longer available, which dealt the final blow. If there is a positive in this story it is that while Blue Planet Reef Farms was in business they continuously grew and showed the need for a supplier of these eco-friendly fishes (there really is a market for them). Hopefully somebody Sustainable Aquatics and other captive rearing programs will step in to fill this void.
