Remember those awesome Sailfin Jawfishes that we posted not too long ago? Apparently, the original identification of O. lonchurus given was rather dubious and incorrect. These fishes are rarely seen in the wild and supplied to the trade, with very little information circulating the internet and books. Properly identifying them can be rather tedious and difficult for a casual hobbyist.
The image of a dead specimen of the said jawfish is an exact match to the ones we shared awhile back. The scientific name and correct identification is O. fenmutis. So jawfish fanatics, with the right identification, you guys can now safely put this species on your wish list without fear of being deliveried you the wrong fish! Big thanks to Adeljean Ho for researching the proper identity of the sailfin jawfish.
