When I first built Reef Builders way back in 2006 I didn’t expect to see such an overwhelming response to the original idea for the industry. Since that time we have grown substantially in terms of raw traffic hitting the site every day.
The time has come for us to upgrade our backend servers to more powerful equipment capable of handling the tens of thousands of real people looking at Reef Builders for information that they need.
Because of our rising visitor count you might have noticed the website having issues over the course of the past several weeks—while we have done everything in our power to keep the site operational until we had our new server backend ready the site did suffer sporadic outages. We are very sorry about that.
However, we are finally ready to move to the new environment and during the weekend we will start the data transfer. For those of you keeping track at home we have about 140GB of aquarium related images for starters. I’ll update this post once the move is complete. The only difference as a reader is the new speediness of our new environment.
Update: We’re on the new server environment
