ESV is one of the most trusted brands in aquarium additive and elemental dosing, and they’ve got a new product coming out to further refine our aquarium water chemistry management. B-Ionic Transition Elements Plus is a new additive coming soon from ESV to help reefers add beneficial trace elements that get used up faster than two part dosing solutions can keep up with.
Two-part dosing solutions are a popular way to replenish the calcium, carnbonate, and general mineral balance of our home aquariums. Dosing two solutions in generally equal portions is a very simple way to provide our corals and reef life with the elements they use up the most, but what do you do when your calcium, alkalinity and magnesium are already at good levels? This is where B-Ionic Transition Elements Plus comes in.
Working in conjunction with Joe Yaiullo and the needs of his 20,000 gallon slice of the reef, ESV created B-Ionic Transition Plus to pick up where general mineral replenishment leaves off. According to ESV, B-Ionic Transition Elements Plus “changes the nutrient dynamics of a reef aquaria, allowing for the natural reduction of nitrate and phosphate without the use of specialized chemical media.”
‘BTE+’ also includes small amounts of organic carbon and trace elements to help heterotrophic bacteria to uptake nitrate and phosphate. The result of using BTE+ also has benefits for macroalgae and zooxanthellae, it enhances coral color and polyp extension and it sounds like all around good stuff for your reef. With Bob Stark and Joe Yaiullo behind this particular additive, we have some assurance that this is far from some kind of snake oil but we’ll have to wait for sometime this fall for BTE+ to be released so we can test these claims for ourselves.
