We’ve been enamored with coral checking flashlights like the Coral Fluorescence Protein Checker or Orphek Azurelight for a few years as a great way to really put corals through the paces at frag swaps and trade shows. Now AquaMaxx is getting into the fold with its new AquaMaxx Coral-Eye flashlight.
Using a 5W actinic blue CREE LED, the Coral-Eye has adjustable focus (narrow to wide) and three functions to add more versatility to the product. The actinic blue will really pull out the fluorescence of the corals to give you a better sense of how they could potential pop in your system.
As we mentioned, there are three operating modes. High output to see corals in high light areas like stores, swaps and trade shows. There is also a low output setting to view things at night without totally stirring up your tank’s critters. There is also a strobe function to simulate lighting and they say is good for checking the health of clams.
The AquaMaxx Coral-Eye retails for around $30.
