The Ocean Swipe is a new type of glass cleaning robot which has been a long time coming. We first learned of the Ocean Swipe as a concept nearly two years ago, with a radically different design than the RoboSnail.
Instead of covering all sides of the aquarium like a Roomba vacuum cleaner, the Ocean Swipe uses pre-installed tracks to travel along the walls of the aquarium. Sophisticated onboard controls allows the Ocean Swipe to perform all kinds of different tasks, not the least of which is polishing acrylic aquariums.
What makes the Ocean Swipe stand out is the use of special connectors that enable this machine to turn corners and polish the sides of the tank too. We’re still not sure how this whole ensemble will look on the aquarium, tracks and all.
But either way, next week the Ocean Swipe will go on sale on the company’s own webstore. We assume that the full sized Ocean Swipe 360 will be the first model offered, but no word yet on whether the Ocean Swipe 360 Junior will also be part of the product launch.
