Scott Anderson is a soft spoken Colorado reefer with an amazing reef tank that we made a point to visit last week. As the star of Mile High Reefers, Scott has one of the most productive reef aquarium channels on YouTube, frequently sharing stories of his reef and tank projects.
His 210 gallon tank is supported with some very interesting aquarium equipment, including a trio of original Teszla LEDs which gives his tank an appropriate amount of light. Mr. Anderson (Neo?) is fortunate enough to have his sump and filtration in a remote room where all his components are spread out like the engine of a classic Chevy engine.
He uses an MRC calcium reactor as his primary source of dosing, and a couple frag tanks/vats are in preparation for future greatness. His protein skimmer is also the once bleeding edge AquaC EV-1000 which is tuned to perfection on his filtration system. But the coolest feature of Scott’s reef filtration is a built-in back up pump already plumbed into his sump and valved off for the day his primary pump fails, or if he just needs to do extended maintenance on it.
It was very fun visiting with Mr Anderson at length, talking shop about his tank and corals, and doing a little switch-up that we’ll see in an upcoming video. I didn’t describe the reef tank and animals too much here because the video footage speaks for itself, and I have a feeling I’ll be returning to see his tank again before the year is up.
