Tigriopus californicus – if you’ve been reefing for even a short time this is probably the only species of copepod that you know by name. First introduced to the aquarium hobby by Reef Nutrition’s Tigger pods, this species has become a favorite to introduce to home aquariums and now Polyp Lab has a product of their own.
Polyp Lab is best known for making some of the most popular coral foods, so their new product called ‘T. californicus’ is their first ever live food to the hobby. These tiger pods are just under 2mm long making them a perfect first food for newly acquired basslets, dragonets, seahorses and many small fish. Polyp Lab is also offering a smaller species of copepod, Tisbe biminiensis, which is a more tropical species which is more likely to reproduce in the home aquairum.
What’s neat about PolypLab new live foods is that they’re priced to be shipped strait to the aquarist. Of course we support buying as much as you can at better brick n’ mortar stores but if you’re a rural aquarist, live too far from a good fish store, or simply want the convenience of having it shipped to your door, the $25 bottle from PolypLab includes shipping direct to your door.
