The temperature of aquarium water, or ANY biological system for that matter, is the most critical parameter we can measure yet most reefers rarely give it the attention it deserves. I’d be willing to bet that half of you don’t even know where your thermometer is, if you even have one.
You know why? Because for years we’ve been stuck with garbage $2 thermometers that come with nearly useless suction cups. This is most likely due to the research and development budget being blown on making sure they are hyper accurate (insert sarcasm) so you’re left wondering where the thermometer has floated off too.
For years I’ve been waiting for a thermometer that isn’t necessarily accurate, but at least will stay where I put it, either in the tank or in the sump. Leave it to aquarium accessory maker JW Aquatics, best known for trinkets at the Petco or Petsmart, to finally bring us a magnetically attached aquarium thermometer.
It displays temperature in both Celsius and Fahrenheit, it uses a magnet, it costs like three bucks. It’s about flippin time! [JW Aquatics]
