The UK’s Atomic Reactors has a new algae reactor they recently released dubbed the Atomic Greenie Grower. Like other algae reactors, the Greenie Grower turns a small ball of chaetomorpha into a nitrate and organics reducing mechanism.
The company has a fun description of the Atomic Greenie Grower that “…will quickly grow “greenies” that will absorb all the nitrates that your tank can belch out. No one likes a nitrate belching tank so let the Atomic Greenie grower do the hard work for you.”
The Atomic Greenie Grower rated for tanks up to 500 liters and measures in at 400mm tall with a 100mm diameter reaction chamber and a total capacity just over 3 liters. The water is fed through 12mm inlet and outlet fittings but you’ll need to supply a pump of your choosing that delivers 1,000 lph.
For the light to feed the “greenies” it appears Atomic is using an LED ribbon with about 20 diodes on it at 16W output. There isn’t information on the color temperature of the LEDs, but looking at the illuminated picture, we can assume they’re in the same 4:1 ratio of red (625-660nm) to blue (445-465nm) LEDs designed for plant growth.
The Atomic Greenie Grower retails for £179.99 (around $240 USD).
