Dubai in the United Arab Emirates has made a name for itself across the globe for going big, having ambition, and this also extends to the reef aquarium owners of this country. While visiting BPK Dubai for their annual regional event this summer, we had the chance to check out a 2,000 gallon reef aquarium on Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah.
This massive aquarium is nearly 15 feet long, four feet high, and uses three layers of lamination to achieve an all glass construction at this size. The reef tank has hundreds of pounds of live rock, several hundred coral frags and colonies that are growing very fast thanks to plentiful lighting from more than a dozen Radion G4 Pro LEDs.
Water flow is provided by Vectra pumps for the returns, several commercial size Maxspect Gyre pumps provide water flow inside the tank, and the heart of the filtration is one of the most massive Bubble King skimmers we’ve ever seen actually running outside a trade show. Not to be overlooked is a very well curated population of small, medium and large size fish which swim and distribute themselves across the convincing reefscape in a very natural manner.
At just one year old this reef tank is absolutely impeccable and shows great promise at becoming a masterpiece of reef aquarium engineering and husbandry. We really hope you enjoy this video walkthrough os this massive reef tank and we look forward to sharing even more great content with viewers of our Youtube channel.
