The Nuvo INT 70 gallon dropoff from Innovative Marine has been ‘revealed’ in a teaser image on their social media. Without making any mention of whether this tank is real and actually in production, IM asked their fans if they’d like a dropoff aquarium of this size and what they’d want to see in it.
It was around three years ago at ReefStock 2016 that Innovative Marine debuted a trio of innovative aquarium shapes including a small cylinder, and a dropoff aquarium style that really got everyone buzzing. That original concept saw a limited release in a 20-ish gallon size and was made of acrylic.
The newly proposed Nuvo INT would be 70 gallons, made of glass and we think they simply couldn’t make enough of them. The dropoff ‘shape’ as a concept has really captured the imagination of both fresh and saltwater aquascapers in recent years and we’re seeing many different concepts being built with its unique proportions.
This new larger dropoff concept from Innovative Marine appears to be roughly three feet long and one foot deep on the shallow side, two feet on the deeper side, and perhaps in the neighborhood of 24 inches wide. This approximated guess on the dimensions actually provides a volume of around 66 gallons so we van’t be far off, but hopefully we won’t have to wait long until we see this new tank in the flesh.
