The Accela Pro is a new smart return or centrifugal pump from JBJ which has the potential to be one of their most advanced products to date. The Accela Pro is part of JBJ’s new Reef Connect line of wireless, controllable aquarium devices and while the first few models won’t be breaking any records, their medium size will certainly fill a gap in the aquarium hobby.
JBJ plans to offer the Accela Pro in two sizes to start, the 15 watt, 400 gallon per hour DCB-1500 and a 23 watt model called the DCB-2500 capable of 660 gallons per hour. These modest specs doesn’t exactly earmark the Accela Pros for any jumbo tanks but instead they will be particularly well suited to powering small and medium sized aquariums.
The smaller size of the pump body and reasonable head pressure is especially in line with all in one aquariums up to about 75 gallons, maybe even 100 gallons for filtration in the back sections of certain AIOs. We’ve got a lot of questions about JBJ’s Accela Pro smart return pumps, especially about that hybrid impeller design so we’ll be sure to follow up and share more details about them as they become available.
