Aquarium Controllers have become much more widely available the last few years even as higher end aquarium gear has become increasingly smart and connected. Although there are certainly a lot more aquarists using Profilux, Aquatronica, Apex & Felix Smart, these may be more capable than ever but they certainly are not any more affordable.
Since aquarium controllers require a certain learning curve anyway – none of them are truly plug and play – the DIY inclined might as well consider some of the open source options for a fraction of the price. The Leviathan is a new $14 circuit board that promises equipment control, light dimming, pH moniotring among other things you can do with the board.
The project has a kick starter to fund the circuit board with options from $1 or more. For you DIY control freaks this might be the perfect project for you.
