If you’ve been a fan of the Reef Builders YouTube channel for a while, you probably remember the inception of the studio and introduction of the aquariums inside. In September of 2018, Jake Adams took delivery of 2 new Innovative Marine EXT tanks. One of them would eventually become a mixed reef he would affectionately call, “The Kitchen Sink”.
That wasn’t the original plan. As with most of the tanks in the studio, Jake wanted this to be dedicated to a specific group of corals. Leathers dominated this aquarium in the early days, but it slowly transitioned to a tank for just about everything. Today, it lives up to its namesake as a true mixed reef.
“The Kitchen Sink” tank features some of Jake’s top acquisitions over the years, including Lazy’s Blue Zing, a cross between an ORA Bird of Paradise and a standard ORA Green Birdsnest. The Manilla Spy, a fast-growing, thin-branching, Montipora. Also, one of my personal favorites, a grafted Turbinaria heronensis!
This tank has grown nicely! Take a tour of “The Kitchen Sink” below!
