Skimz Leopard’s inverted cone within a cone may be the least turbulent yet

The Skimz Leopard skimmer has finally been unveiled here at Aquarama in Singapore and the inverted cone is nothing to scoff at. Rising above the bubble plate, the inverted cone ingeniously guides all incoming water an bubbles against the sides of the cone skimmer body, while skimmed water descends down the inverted cone and exits the skimmer.

While it may be more evolutionary than revolutionary, there is a visible difference in turbulence between Skimz Monzters and Skimz Leopard protein skimmers. Stay tuned for more details on the Skimz Leopard including sizes, pricing and the specially designed Skimz Leopard pumps based on the popular Askoll motor block.

    Looks awesome! But it appears that the bubble plate/inverted cone assembly may infringe on Warner Marine’s VBT patent. The inverted cone appears to guide water back down thru the center of the bubble plate as specified in the WM patent application.

    Skimz and WM have a working partnership.

    Personally, I think skimmers are all over-designed these days for the sake of marketing.  There is no empirical data yet that shows one skimmer tech outperforms another.  But they sure are sexy for prop heads to drool over.

    We think the new Skimz Leopard looks great and if Skimz was inspired by our VBT in it’s design we’re honored.

    The WM VBT is a recirculating design right? The skimz leopard inverted cone is mostly for reducing turbulence and microbubble ejection.

    I agree the Askoll pump is the key here. But so is the pricing.

    Agreed, we have not been furnished with pricing yet although already rceiving advanced orders.

    This will push Skimz into the mid-higher end price point for skimmers but with the added body technology I guess the hope is this will justify it. Having said that Skimz is still not yet overly known in NA and new clients always step cautiously, on the flip side of that again, all that have bought into the brand have been more than impressed.

    Getting a new brand into a saturated market is not an easy task, but we are starting to see more and more dealer requests to stock it.
