30 dolphins beached and rescued in three minutes at a Brazilian beach

By on Jul 17, 2012

We normally wouldn’t share stories about dolphins, manatees, sea turtles or mermaids but this amazing video tells an incredible story. In the short span of three and a half minutes, about 30 dolphins nearly strand themselves Arraial do Cabo in Brazil which just so happened to have about as many empathetic primates standing around who understood their predicament. Before the stranded dolphins can even get out a few squeals or tail flaps, the beach going humans grab the seagoing mammals by their flukes and drag their streamlined bodies back into the sea. Check out the amazing dolphin rescue video after the break.

Great story though this was in Arraial do Cabo in Brazil (not Peru). [now corrected]

Very strange sight, but that was truly awesome how everyone just came out and helped those dolphins

Wasn’t this story from a while ago?

I just checked the youtube link and it’s from March 5th. I remember seeing this on the news back then. Good story though.

Really interesting turn of events. However, it’s rather strange that one of the more intelligent creatures in the ocean just decided to swim up to the beach without any obvious reason. I wonder what was going on to have them feel the need to do this. Very odd…

Good thing this wasn’t Japan! They would have got harpoons and had a killing frenzy! I’m glad some humans still have hearts.

I’ve seen video of dolphins feeding where they would chase a school of fish up to the beach to make it easier to catch their meal and would almost beach themselves. But in the video they would turn just before break and head back out to sea. It was awesome. I guess that’s what they might have been thinking. Or the front runner made a horrible mistake and the other doplphins followed and they beached themselves. Anyways, It was an awesome video.
