Tanked gets new life, Season 4 will start March 22nd

Tanked, the smash hit reality television show we first broke news on has announced season 4 will start March 22nd. Unlike most shows Animal Planet decided that each “season” should be around 6-8 episodes with season 4 is expected to have a total of 7.  The series about company Acrylic Tank Manufacturing stars brothers-in-law Brett Raymer and Wayde King first aired in 2011 with only six episodes ordered.

Initially, there was a large backlash among hard core aquarium hobbyists with how fish were acclimated among other issues. However, that has since faded with the producers inserting additional language and with the reminder the show is for “entertainment”. Tanked has been a hit for Animal Planet, on a recent earnings call Animal Planet viewership is up 17% compared to year over year with a large portion of the success based on Tanked and other media properties.

    Oh boy, another season of misinformation, bad animal husbandry and tainting of how my customers think fish tanks work.

    I saw tangs in nano aquariums every day, this was before a show called “Tanked”

    We should all be thrilled our hobby is featured on a hit TV show. It brings in growth and improvement to this hobby and industry.

    Congrats to these two guys for succeeding after years of effort! I think we all would like to see more “reality” on these shows, but bottom line is that it’s bringing in more interest. We just need to direct that interest into MORE HOBBYISTS!
