Apparently upstate New York most have a great source of rare corals. Steve Lowes was featured in a local article about he is growing corals in his basement. Steve says that he isn’t doing it for profit (kuddos) but to raise public awareness and help scientists to study them. Coral reefs are typically found in the warm salt waters between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn. They cover only about 1 percent of the earth’s surface but their value to the world economy is projected at more than $300 billion as a food source, for tourism appeal and in reducing shoreline erosion. Okay Steve we are officially impressed here at Reef Builders, just remember to send us a beer mkay?
