The first fully fledged online reefkeeping community Reefs.org has always been on the ball in terms of rolling out new features and updates to it’s website and software. Next week the RDO crew will have a lot more to show once they hit the “Apply Changes” button with a whole suite of new functionality being added to the Reefs.org ecosystem. Some of the more notable changes to the BB include:
- A new, powerful, fast, well-organized, and full function search engine, available to all members 24/7. (A free search engine, imagine that!)
- An advanced private messaging system, allowing members to send messages with attachments and send messages to multiple members (including blind carbon copies).
- Smart content formatting (for example: no more long links or large images breaking website layout).
- Subscribe to threads as well as bookmark topics for fast referencing.
- Friends and Foe (ignore member) functionality. (We’ll be making use of this one)
- RSS forum feeds.
- Easily report posts that need the attention of administrators/moderators.
Some of the other changes will allow clubs to moderate up to three of their own forums and to create their own local subforums for special interests, classifieds and more. We look forward to seeing the original reefing BB bring the site up to speed, look for it next week.
