The Illuminata is a new trimless, braceless aquarium series by Oceanic which we first reported on at the Marine Aquarium Expo last weekend in Costa Mesa California. The Illuminata is the first inovative aquarium series from Oceanic since the Tek tanks and it is an exciting release for the Oceanic brand. The Illuminata prototype we spied is a 57 gallon with the same footprint as a traditional Oceanic 58 gallon at 36″ x 18″ x 21″ tall and it sits very well on a Tek series tank. The trimless, braceless beauty is further complimented by beveled edges and clear sealant but it doesn not include high clarity glass, although it does look really clear. The clear sealant on the Illuminata really finishes off the look of this top shelf aquarium, if you want black silicone, check out the Solana or Tek tanks. The only drawback we saw in the prototype Illuminata we saw was the enormous, Mega-Flow style overflow which took up an inordinate amount of room in the tank. This tank was a prototype so we hope to see either a custom overflow or a tek series overflow in the production models. The 57 gallon Illuminata is the first size in the pipeline and it will be available in standard and reef ready models for about $300 and $400 retail, respectively. The 57 gallon should start shipping mid May countrywide, detailed pics and video walkaround of the Illuminata after the break.
