It was a pleasure to sit in on Kevin Kohen’s presentation highlighting the chain of custody of marine fish. According to the LiveAquaria director, not all fish are collected equal because even though a blue tang can originate from the Indian Ocean or Indonesia, the difference between the duration of their collection can mean a world of difference. A long supply chain produces high losses, weaker fish and an overall less sustainable industry whereas a short supply produces low losses, stronger fish and a much more sustainable industry. We thoroughly enjoyed the director’s talk and you should definitely try to catch it if you get the chance.
